Hi all – Just as an FYI, this email is to the Area Committee Members to help prepare for Sunday.
There are all sorts of PAIs (existing and new) and motions that are going to be discussed at this Sunday’s ACM, so I wanted to put all the info we have in one email to hopefully help y’all prepare. There are four items for discussion. I am listing them below along with their associated file name, which are attached to this email.
Existing PAIs
1) That the book The A.A. Service Manual/Twelve Concepts for World Service (BM-31), here after referred to as the “Service Manual” be included in the General Service Representative (G.S.R.)
Kit and the District Committee Member (D.C.M.) Kit at no cost. (File Name: PAI_A68 Eng and Esp)
2) Add the Doctor’s Opinion and the first 164 pages of the 4th Edition xx Printing of the book Alcoholics Anonymous to Article 3 of the Conference Charter as follows:
But no change in Article 12 of the Charter or in the Twelve Traditions of A.A. or in the Twelve Steps of A.A. or in the Doctor’s Opinion and the first 164 pages of the book Alcoholics Anonymous (text as written in the 4th Edition xx Printing) may be made with less than the written consent of three-quarters of the A.A. groups, as described in the Resolution adopted by the 1955 Conference and Convention. New PAI
1) To add a subsection in the Service Manual under “How the Conference Operates”, section “Floor Actions”. It shall be titled, and include similar language to: “Floor Action Procedure Exceptions” (Please see the attached for the remainder of the PAI language) (File Name: PAI 2026 FINAL 7.14.2026 PAI Floor Actions)
Existing Motion
1) To approve an expenditure of $940 to send the NETA 65 Alternate Corrections Chair to attend the National Corrections Conference in Salt Lake, Utah, from November 13–15, 2026. (No new background received)
New Motions
1) Finance Committee 2027 Budget Presentation (No background received)
2) I want to present to the area a motion to amend the writing and our policies and procedures; In Section 4 Area Policies for NETA 65-Originated Events/ Business Meetings: 4.3-A where it reads; The Spring and Fall assemblies, with the Fall being the Assembly/Convention in even-numbered years and Assembly/Service Workshop in odd-number years, will be held in the DFW area,… I would like make a motion that we amend that to read: will be held in or within 50 miles of the DFW area … (File Name: Motion for change to Area policies and Procedures Section4-4.3A)
